Casting Apprentice Required
Baby Casts & Prints are recruiting for a young, motivated and hard-working apprentice to help grow our team. The successful person will be working from our Royton, Oldham studio and will undertake a Design apprenticeship at the Oldham College. The position is full-time 9-5, with one day each week spent at college.
Our business has two unique sides to it, and you will be helping out in both areas, described below.
1. Casting Appointments
This is the original side to the business, and one where customers come to our studio with their children or friends, and we do the casting of their hands or feet. Once the cast is dried, cleaned and finished, they are usually arranged in frames or block mounts, before they are given back to the customer as a completed gift.
2. Online Sales
This is the newest side to the business, and we sell home casting kits & related items on Amazon, Ebay and our own website. Half of our studio is used for assembly space, and we plan to introduce more products throughout 2018 and beyond, aiming to become one of the largest casting companies in the UK. Products are put together from a set of materials, and prepared for dispatch to customers.
Your Role
The role will be comprised of the following:
- Amazon, Ebay & website product dispatch, printing labels & getting products ready for delivery
- Product assembly – picking & packing etc.
- Photography & video of products including instructional demonstrations
- Social media across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
- Website updates & blog writing
- Assistance with the creation of hand & foot casts
- Cleaning & painting of casts
- Customer service via email & telephone
You must possess:
- Good English writing skills & excellent communication
- Photography & video experience
- Social media experience, and the ability to decide on the correct tone of post (ie personal/professional etc)
- The desire to learn, improve & grow
There may also be the opportunity to perform work for Pixel Kicks – a digital agency based in Ancoats Manchester, as part of your apprenticeship. (Chris, one of the Baby Casts & Prints owners also runs Pixel Kicks).
